The “yes” that is not agreement

When you hear “yes” from the other side, do not immediately believe that they agree with you. There are several different words for “yes” in Japanese, each with a different degree of strength. If you can speak some Japanese you can listen for what word is being used to work out how much agreement is being expressed (see Table 6.2).
